Former All-American and Howard University standout Jessika Gbai competed in the biggest race of her professional career at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, running in the 200-meter dash final against the world’s finest.
Gbai, representing Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) in West Africa, finished eighth overall after posting a 22.70 on the big stage.
USA’s Gabrielle Thomas won the gold medal with an impressive 21.83 mark while fellow American Brittany Brown claimed bronze at 22.20.
Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred took silver (22.08) in the event after winning the women’s 100-meter dash Saturday (Aug. 3).
Gbai’s run continues Thursday (Aug. 8) in the women’s 4×100 relay.
